An ADHOC Wet Lease refers to a wet lease arrangement where an airline with an active operating license rents an aircraft from another airline, also holding an active operating license, for specific, non-continuous periods. These leases are typically for a few selected dates, rather than ongoing or regular operations.
The reasons why airlines enter into such lease arrangements include:
Wet lease arrangements are commonly made under the ACMI model. In certain cases, and where regulations and conditions permit, wet leases may also be arranged under the AMI model (Aircraft, Maintenance, and Insurance only).
The airline that leases its aircraft under a wet lease arrangement must ensure it provides the following ACMI requirements to the lessee airline during the lease period:
– ACMI: This acronym stands for Aircraft , Crew, Maintenance and Insurance.
– A: Aircraft: The leased aircraft must have a valid Certificate of Airworthiness.
– C: Crew: The aircraft must be staffed with pilots and flight attendants who are licensed for the aircraft type and hold valid certifications. The crew size must also be adequate, based on the flight hours, in accordance with the required **SET** (Standard Equipment Time).
– M: Maintenance: The leased aircraft must be maintained by licensed technicians with the appropriate technical equipment for its type. Routine and non-routine maintenance and repairs must be carried out as required.
– Insurance: The leased aircraft must have a valid insurance policy that meets the requirements and limits established by international civil aviation regulations.
